These "quilt study" paintings began by reimagining a quilt my great aunt made me as a child and evolved into exploring more quilting square designs and new techniques in the painting process. 
 
Quilt Study #3 is the first piece to not have the leaf patterns continue across the color lines to simulate the appearance of how different fabrics are used for the different shapes of the square.
